Carrington Valentine attended Archbishop Moeller High School and was rated a 3-star prospect by 247 Sports with a scout's rating of 0.850, going unranked by ESPN. Following high school, Valentine opted to join Kentucky.In 2020 as a freshman Valentine saw action in 8 games and played a total of 142 snaps at cornerback for the Wildcats. He recorded just 8 tackles, 2 assists, while adding one stop. In coverage Valentine notched up no pass breakups, no interceptions, and a QB rating when targetted of 79.6.
As a sophomore in 2021 he played in 13 games and logged 777 snaps for the Wildcats. He made solid 53 tackles, 2 assists, and had 16 stops. In coverage he totaled 3 pass breakups, no interceptions, and QB rating when targetted of 101.6.

- Has a nice blend of length, speed, and quickness. He’s at his best mirroring routes underneath, showing fluid movement skills and the ability to change directions on a dime.
- Instinctive - strong in zone coverage.
- Has the change-of-direction ability to mirror underneath but did solid work out of press and off coverage.
- Willing and successful blitzing off the edge. Consideration for a move to safety with a combination of range and sure tackling.
- Shows good instincts when facing the action in zone coverage, and Valentine has solid ball skills.
- Has a powerful punch at the line of scrimmage and can deliver it while moving his feet. Valentine also has the powerful core and hips to stick to a receiver downfield and escort him to the sideline
Scouting Report: Weaknesses
- Questionable technique and Valentine gets lazy with fundamentals, sometimes getting high in his backpedal and will breach the coverage call seeking flashy plays
- Valentine gets beat over the top too often, and he tends to panic and get too handsy when running downfield.
- Isn’t great in route recognition when he’s facing the action, is hesitant and susceptible to double moves, and too often gets unnecessarily handsy when playing trail position
