Scouting Report: Strengths
- Effective grappling in the phone booth, with the upper-body strength and strong hands to outbattle defenders. Curne also shows a good understanding of angles when moving out to the second level
- When his hand placement is right, Curne has the strong grip that allows him to manhandle opponents. He plays with a mean streak and keeps the nastiness going through the whistle.
- Solid positional run blocker who flashes the nasty demeanor and killer instinct scouts covet.
- Curne flashes power and nastiness in the run game, able to win at the point of attack and athletic enough to get out as a pulling blocker before landing blocks on the move at the second level.
- Has a strong, flexible core, and the ability to absorb and anchor against the bull rush as a pass protector.
- He’ll appeal to man-blocking teams, and he’s a fairly high-upside developmental pick when considering his value in the run game.
Scouting Report: Weaknesses
- Absorbs too many hits, delivers few. Technically unpolished and stops his feet on contact. Not a threat in space and lacks overall awareness.
- Has inconsistent quickness and lacks the natural burst to maintain balance and block in space. Extends his arms, but has soft hands and doesn't jolt rushers.
- While Curne probably fits best as a right tackle, he has an outside chance at surviving on the left side for a team with a power-running attack.
