Draft Profile: Bio
Trevor Etienne came from Jennings, Louisiana as a four-star talent before taking his skills to Florida in 2022. The younger brother of Jacksonville Jaguars running back Travis Etienne, Trevor compiled 1,472 rushing yards and 14 touchdowns across two seasons with the Gators before shocking many with his transfer to Georgia. His lone season in Athens saw him battle through adversity – including a suspension and rib injury – yet still managing to lead the Bulldogs with 9 rushing touchdowns while becoming a reliable receiving option with 32 catches. The SEC championship game showcased his clutch gene when he powered in the game-winning overtime touchdown against Texas.

Etienne's journey through the SEC saw him consistently produce despite never being handed a true bell-cow role. At Florida, he averaged an impressive 6.1 yards per carry as a freshman while earning All-SEC Freshman Team honors. His sophomore campaign brought increased responsibilities with 131 carries for 753 yards and expanded receiving duties (21 catches, 172 yards). After transferring to Georgia for 2024, he quickly established himself as a key offensive weapon despite sharing the backfield with talented freshman Nate Frazier. His production dipped slightly to 609 yards, but his touchdown production and third-down reliability increased significantly.

Still just 20 years old (turns 21 in July), Etienne brings a relatively fresh body to the NFL with only 371 career carries - far less mileage than most draft-eligible backs. His third-team All-SEC selection in 2024 highlighted his impact at Georgia despite missing multiple games. While off-field issues (March 2024 arrest) raised questions about maturity, Etienne served his one-game suspension and put together a solid final collegiate campaign that culminated in accepting an invitation to the Senior Bowl.
Scouting Report: Strengths
  • Vision borders on elite - consistently identifies backside cutbacks and anticipates flow before holes develop, showing natural instincts that can't be taught.
  • Changes direction without gearing down - maintains elite speed through cuts with exceptional balance and body control that allows him to string multiple moves together.
  • Remarkably reliable hands with just one drop in 63 career targets - catches naturally away from his frame and transitions to runner instantly.
  • Processes blitzes with veteran savvy in protection - sorts through stunts and late rushers with composure beyond his years.
  • Creates in tight quarters with subtle shifts and shoulder feints that make defenders miss in the hole without sacrificing forward momentum.
  • Runs with ideal pad level and leverage - consistently gets under tacklers and maintains forward lean through contact despite modest size.
  • Demonstrates impressive tempo control - manipulates defenders by varying speeds then exploding through creases once lanes develop.
  • Still developing at just 20 years old with relatively low mileage (371 career carries) and three-down versatility that NFL coordinators covet.
Scouting Report: Weaknesses
  • Lacks the frame to consistently break tackles - goes down on first contact too often when defenders square him up with proper technique.
  • Missing that extra gear to consistently threaten home run plays - adequate long speed but doesn't stack elite acceleration on top of it.
  • Struggled noticeably against stacked boxes and congested fronts where raw power is needed to create when blocking breaks down.
  • Pass protection willingness exceeds technique - shows right mentality but lacks anchor strength against blitzing linebackers.
  • Never established himself as a clear RB1 at either Florida or Georgia - legitimate questions about ability to handle featured workload.
Scouting Report: Summary
Etienne brings immediate third-down value with legitimate upside to develop into more. His vision between the tackles jumps off the screen, particularly in zone concepts where his one-cut decisiveness and subtle tempo changes create running lanes that weren't initially there. While he won't run through many tackles at the next level, his elusiveness in tight spaces compensates for what he lacks in raw power.

What separates Etienne from similar-sized backs is his instinct for the game and natural receiving ability. The tape shows a runner who understands defensive leverage, consistently making the first man miss without losing momentum. His pass protection awareness – recognizing blitzes and sorting through stunts – will earn immediate trust from coaching staffs, even if his anchor strength needs development. The combination of sticky hands (one drop in 63 targets) and after-catch creativity makes him a legitimate weapon on third downs from day one.

The ceiling question hinges on physical development. At just 20 years old with relatively low mileage, Etienne has room to add functional strength without sacrificing his quickness. His running style suggests he'll never be a short-yardage hammer, but added lower body power could significantly improve his ability to run through arm tackles. The balance of his skills points toward a very good committee back whose impact exceeds his eventual draft position – particularly in a scheme that emphasizes zone concepts and utilizes backs in the passing game.

*Percentile Ranking in Player's Position Group (NFL Combine Historical Data): This percentile reflects how a player's specific statistics rank in comparison to historical performances at the NFL Combine, specifically within their position group. A higher percentile indicates a better performance. For instance, being in the 90th percentile for a particular stat means the player outperformed 90% of their peers in that category.

*Similarity Percentage: This percentage is calculated based on a comprehensive analysis of various factors, including height, weight, 40-yard dash times, on-field performance statistics, and overall player rating. The analysis is conducted against our database of draft prospects from 2021 to 2023. This similarity score helps in evaluating how closely a current prospect aligns with past prospects. It is important to note, however, that this score reflects similarities based on college production and attributes, and does not account for eventual success or performance in the NFL.
