Draft Profile: Bio
Tawfiq Thomas made 200 career tackles at Gaither High School in Tampa and earned all-state honors twice, posting eight sacks and 16 tackles for loss in his final season. Basketball was his other sport, and he was rated a three-star prospect.Thomas started his college career at Louisville, playing in 22 games over two seasons, before moving to Colorado, where he played in 13 games in 2024. He was off to a strong start in 2025 when a season-ending injury stopped him after four games.
He signed with Georgia Tech in January 2026 for his fifth season and has become a fixture on the interior. He had a sack against his former team, Colorado, in the opener, forced a fumble against Mercer and led the Yellow Jackets in tackles for loss through October. He was listed as doubtful with an undisclosed injury before the Boston College game.
Scouting Report: Strengths
- Stout run defender, with 21 stops in seven games
- Sacked the quarterback against his former team, Colorado, in the opener
- Led Georgia Tech in tackles for loss through October
- Heavy, powerful frame that holds up against double teams
Scouting Report: Weaknesses
- Below-average speed limits his range and his pass rush
- Pass rush is modest, with 10 pressures this season
- Season-ending injury cut short his 2025 season at Colorado
- Listed as doubtful with an undisclosed injury in late October
- Penalties have crept in, with three this season
Scouting Report: Summary
Thomas has found a home at Georgia Tech as a powerful run defender. He holds up at the point of attack, sheds blocks to finish plays at the line and has 21 stops in seven games, along with a sack against Colorado and a forced fumble against Mercer. However, his pass rush is limited, with 10 pressures this season, and his lack of speed shows when plays move away from him. He has also had injury trouble, with a season-ending injury in 2025 and a doubtful listing in October.
Overall, Thomas is a strong early-down tackle whose value comes against the run. He projects as a priority free agent rotational defensive tackle who needs a clean medical report.

*Percentile Ranking in Player's Position Group (NFL Combine Historical Data): This percentile reflects how a player's specific statistics rank
in comparison to historical performances at the NFL Combine, specifically within their position group. A higher percentile indicates a better performance.
For instance, being in the 90th percentile for a particular stat means the player outperformed 90% of their peers in that category.
*Similarity Percentage: This percentage is calculated based on a comprehensive analysis of various factors, including height, weight, 40-yard dash times, on-field performance statistics, and overall player rating. The analysis is conducted against our database of draft prospects from 2021 to 2023. This similarity score helps in evaluating how closely a current prospect aligns with past prospects. It is important to note, however, that this score reflects similarities based on college production and attributes, and does not account for eventual success or performance in the NFL.
