A'Mauri Washington came to Eugene as a consensus four-star recruit, rated the top defensive lineman in his home state by every major service and ranked 172nd nationally by ESPN in the 2023 class. Limited freshman action produced two tackles in eight games behind Derrick Harmon and Jamaree Caldwell.Washington grew into a rotational piece on Oregon's 2024 Big Ten championship defense, playing in all 14 games and recording 10 tackles while logging snaps against Ohio State and Penn State during the title run.
Promoted to the starting lineup in 2025, Washington played all 15 games and totaled 33 tackles, 4.5 tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks, and eight batted passes, earning third-team All-Big Ten honors. Among his best outings was the October home loss to Indiana, when he recorded a sack and three solo tackles, and he added three quarterback pressures against USC. Oregon reached the College Football Playoff semifinals before falling to eventual national champion Indiana, and Washington announced in December that he would return to the Ducks for 2026.

Washington is a 330-pound interior anchor who moves better than the listed weight suggests, and 2025 was his first year as a full-time starter for an Oregon front that leaned on him to hold up inside. The run defense is the strength of the file: he resets the line against single blocks, splits doubles with leverage, and held the point in the meetings with USC and Washington. He also gets his hands up, batting down eight passes when the rush did not get home.The pass rush is more potential than production right now. He flashed interior push with sacks against Indiana and Washington, but two on the year is a modest total for a player with this kind of burst, and the plan still leans on bull-rush power rather than a counter when the first move stalls. He also missed eight tackles, which is a finish concern at his size, and his range thins out once ball carriers get to the perimeter.
The package is a starting nose or heavy three-technique who wins the early-down battle and gives a defense snaps it can trust against the run. With another year of rush development the ceiling climbs, but even as is, the burst-and-anchor combination at this weight is a second-round trait set. Slot him as a run-down cornerstone who can grow into more.
