Myles Brooks attended Hendrickson High School and was Following high school, Brooks opted to join Stephen F. Austin.In 2019 as a freshman Brooks saw action in just one game and played a total of 41 snaps at cornerback for the Lumberjacks. He recorded just one tackle, 2 assists, while adding one stop. In coverage Brooks notched up no pass breakups, one interception, and a QB rating when targetted of 104.2.
As a sophomore in 2020 he played in 9 games and logged 349 snaps for the Lumberjacks. He made 11 tackles, 5 assists, and had 7 stops. In coverage he totaled 4 pass breakups, one interception, and QB rating when targetted of 61.2.
In 2021 as a junior Brooks played in 12 games and contributed on 550 snaps. He chalked up 20 tackles, one assist, and added 6 stops. In the secondary Brooks forced 5 pass breakups, 4 interceptions, and gave up an elite QB rating when targetted of 49.8.
After season's end Brooks transferred to Louisiana Tech where as a senior for the Bulldogs in 2022 Brooks played in 12 games and took part in 717 snaps for the Bulldogs. Scouting Report: Strengths
- Physical downfield and matches up well with bigger receivers. Tough and fiery with very good competitiveness. High-effort player.
- Physical, sheds defenders and works off blocks. Good toughness with recognition skills to fight through traffic and blow up screens.
- Can track the ball downfield and gets his head around when playing in a trail position, and Brooks shows excellent ball skills when breaking on a route. He’s a plus tackler in run support as well.
- Good instincts and anticipation reads and reacts with discipline. Dangerous with the ball in his hands.
- Tracks the ball well downfield and shows good ball skills, including the ability to go up and high-point it in contested-catch situations.
- Brooks has the straight-line speed to recover. His ball skills are tremendous, with good hands and the potential to take it to the house any time he gets his hands on the ball.
Scouting Report: Weaknesses
- Has a lean, narrow frame and needs to get stronger.
- Doesn’t have the kind of fluidity needed to mirror quicker receivers underneath.
- Feet aren’t ideal, as Brooks gets sloppy in his backpedal and can be sluggish when transitioning to close on the ball.
