Draft Profile: Bio
Mason Taylor from St. Thomas Aquinas High School was rated a 3-star recruit by ESPN and handed a 3-star grade by 247 Sports. After high school, Taylor opted to join LSU.

In 2022 as a freshman Taylor saw action in 13 games for the Tigers as he made 33 receptions for 326 yards for an average of 9.9 yards per reception, with 2 TDs, and an excellent QB rating when targeted of 99.5. As a blocker he allowed 6 pressures and 2 sacks.

Scouting Report: Strengths
  • Taylor fights his way off the line of scrimmage against press coverage, showing quick, violent hands and good balance.
  • He is a natural playmaker, at his best with the ball in his hands.
  • Has hands of glue, about as good as you 'll see in the sport.
  • He’s a fluid athlete with excellent short-area quickness; Taylor should be able to create separation, and he has the straight-line speed to threaten down the seam.
  • He transitions quickly from receiver to runner, and he has enough speed to threaten the seam.
  • He has great size, tall with the broad shoulders to carry his weight with ease, and he has an enormous catch radius to match.
  • He has soft hands and uses his frame effectively to shield defenders, making him a major threat in the red zone. Taylor can also turn upfield and break a tackle.
Scouting Report: Weaknesses
  • He’ll have to develop a better feel for sitting down against zone coverage.
  • Taylor seems comfortable in traffic to the point where Taylor doesn’t make the effort to create separation.
  • He’s a work in progress as a blocker, often playing too high and getting overpowered at the point of attack.

*Percentile Ranking in Player's Position Group (NFL Combine Historical Data): This percentile reflects how a player's specific statistics rank in comparison to historical performances at the NFL Combine, specifically within their position group. A higher percentile indicates a better performance. For instance, being in the 90th percentile for a particular stat means the player outperformed 90% of their peers in that category.

*Similarity Percentage: This percentage is calculated based on a comprehensive analysis of various factors, including height, weight, 40-yard dash times, on-field performance statistics, and overall player rating. The analysis is conducted against our database of draft prospects from 2021 to 2023. This similarity score helps in evaluating how closely a current prospect aligns with past prospects. It is important to note, however, that this score reflects similarities based on college production and attributes, and does not account for eventual success or performance in the NFL.
