Draft Profile: Bio
Jide Abasiri was a three-sport athlete at Prior Lake High School in Minnesota, competing in football, wrestling and track and field. He was a first-team AP All-State pick and a Star Tribune All-Metro selection as a senior before USC flipped him late in the 2024 recruiting cycle. After playing in 10 games as a true freshman, Abasiri became a regular in 2025, playing all 13 games with nine starts. He made 26 tackles, 3.5 of them sacks, and forced a fumble, and his testing numbers put him on the 2025 Freaks List, including a reported top speed of 19.22 mph.
Abasiri opened 2026 on the Lott IMPACT Trophy watch list and has lined up on both sides of the USC front. He was a game-time decision with an undisclosed injury at Penn State on 10 October and played one snap, but returned to play 61 snaps against Ohio State, making four tackles.
Scouting Report: Strengths
- Rare burst off the snap for an interior lineman, regularly first across the line
- Lines up at either defensive tackle spot and holds up on run downs in both
- Made four tackles in 61 snaps against Ohio State, holding his gap all day
- Strong hands let him stack blockers on run downs and find the ball carrier
- Chases plays to the sideline with a pursuit effort most tackles cannot match
Scouting Report: Weaknesses
- Light frame for the interior gets washed out by double teams in short yardage
- Has not recorded a sack in nine games despite his testing traits
- Pass rush lacks a plan once his first move stalls, as it did at Rutgers
- An undisclosed injury left him a game-time decision and limited to one snap at Penn State
Scouting Report: Summary
Abasiri is one of the most explosive athletes on the USC roster, and the burst is obvious on tape. He is quick to get into the backfield, can line up on either side of the line, and has become a dependable run defender this season, holding his ground for 61 snaps against Ohio State. Few interior players his size chase the ball as hard. However, the production has not followed the traits. He has no sacks this season, his rush tends to end when his first move is stopped, and his frame is light for a full-time defensive tackle, which shows against double teams. The injury that cost him most of the Penn State game is another item for the medical file.
Overall, the traits are there for Abasiri, but he still needs to add mass and a counter for when his first move fails. He projects as a sixth-round developmental tackle, and as a junior he may decide another year at USC would serve him better.

*Percentile Ranking in Player's Position Group (NFL Combine Historical Data): This percentile reflects how a player's specific statistics rank
in comparison to historical performances at the NFL Combine, specifically within their position group. A higher percentile indicates a better performance.
For instance, being in the 90th percentile for a particular stat means the player outperformed 90% of their peers in that category.
*Similarity Percentage: This percentage is calculated based on a comprehensive analysis of various factors, including height, weight, 40-yard dash times, on-field performance statistics, and overall player rating. The analysis is conducted against our database of draft prospects from 2021 to 2023. This similarity score helps in evaluating how closely a current prospect aligns with past prospects. It is important to note, however, that this score reflects similarities based on college production and attributes, and does not account for eventual success or performance in the NFL.
