Draft Profile: Bio
Jake Garcia from Grayson High School was rated a 4-star recruit by ESPN and handed a 4-star grade by 247 Sports. After high school, Garcia opted to join Miami (FL).In 2021 as a freshman Garcia saw action in just one game for the Hurricanes as he threw for only 140 yards on 15 attempts with a completion percent of 80 for an average of 9.3 yards per pass, with only 2 TDs, while taking no sacks, and an elite QB rating of 145.1.
In 2022 as a sophomore he played in 8 games as he passed for 809 yards on 116 attempts with a completion percent of 59.5 for an average of 7.0 yards per pass, with only 5 TDs, while also taking 15 sacks, and putting up QB rating of 80.7.
Scouting Report: Strengths
- Very confident passer and shows good accuracy and feel when in rhythm. Showed better ball placement from past years and throws very catchable passes. Puts too much air in some of his throws and needs to show a lower trajectory on deep throws.
- Sprays the ball anywhere on the field, especially when given a pocket from which to deliver. Will step up into pocket while looking downfield, reset his feet and deliver.
- Physically, Garcia is a natural athlete who plays with the balance and light feet to float in the pocket.
- Possesses a strong arm and is capable of making every NFL throw easily. Can drive the deep out to the sideline from the opposite hash and has no problem threading the needle between closing defenders. Easily zips to all areas of the field, demonstrating very good touch on underneath routes to running backs and receivers, as well as down the sideline on deep passes.
- Generally accurate on intermediate and short throws; flashes anticipation and placement on intermediate outs and the ability to lead receivers on deeper throws.
- Good (not elite) arm strength and can easily make all the NFL throws with effortless deep passes.
Scouting Report: Weaknesses
- His mechanics are hit-or-miss as Garcia struggles to remain consistent. His stride is inconsistent, leading to sporadic accuracy.
- Needs to improve his touch at all levels and know when to gun it and when to take something off his throws. Accuracy is solid, but far from great with streaky ball placement downfield as he tries to thread the needle too much.
- Slight frame with limited room for additional growth. Possesses an average arm that forces him to wind up to drive the ball longer than 15 yards.

*Percentile Ranking in Player's Position Group (NFL Combine Historical Data): This percentile reflects how a player's specific statistics rank
in comparison to historical performances at the NFL Combine, specifically within their position group. A higher percentile indicates a better performance.
For instance, being in the 90th percentile for a particular stat means the player outperformed 90% of their peers in that category.
*Similarity Percentage: This percentage is calculated based on a comprehensive analysis of various factors, including height, weight, 40-yard dash times, on-field performance statistics, and overall player rating. The analysis is conducted against our database of draft prospects from 2021 to 2023. This similarity score helps in evaluating how closely a current prospect aligns with past prospects. It is important to note, however, that this score reflects similarities based on college production and attributes, and does not account for eventual success or performance in the NFL.
