Draft Profile: Bio
After throwing for 7,851 yards and 91 total touchdowns at Brookwood High School in Georgia, Lonergan signed with Alabama as a four-star quarterback in the 2023 class. He attempted two passes in his only appearance as a freshman, completing both for 12 yards, and spent two seasons as a reserve before transferring to Boston College in December 2024.Lonergan won the Eagles' starting job in 2025 fall camp and opened with four touchdown passes against Fordham, then threw for 389 yards and four more scores at Michigan State the following week. Benched for Grayson James in October, he finished the season rotating with James and completed 190 of 284 passes for just over 2,000 yards with 12 touchdowns and five interceptions across 10 games.
Following the year the redshirt sophomore entered the transfer portal a second time and signed with Rutgers in January 2026, where he arrived to compete with AJ Surace for the starting role.

Lonergan was a four-star recruit who spent two seasons at Alabama before transferring to Boston College and starting in 2025, throwing 12 touchdowns against five interceptions across ten games with three 300-yard outings. The arm is the draw; he has the strength and touch to layer throws to the second and third levels, stands tall against pressure, and delivers from a clean platform.His best tape is loud, 389 yards and four scores against Michigan and a four-touchdown day against Fordham that was the sharpest by a Boston College quarterback in over a decade. He protects the ball and settled in with real poise late in the year, and he transferred to Rutgers for 2026 to keep starting. The arm strength is real enough that a patient staff can develop the rest of the operation over time.
His flaws are consistency and athleticism. He was inconsistent enough to lose the job briefly before reclaiming it, he is an average athlete with little run value, and he needs to sustain rhythm across full games rather than in stretches. The starting sample is still thin.
