Scouting Report: Strengths
- Paillant thrives on physicality, often out-grappling bigger defensive linemen and winning in the phone booth with tenacity and upper-body strength.
- Has the natural power to move defenders at the point of attack. He also has the agility and speed to get out in front and land blocks at the second level. Paillant also shows a good understanding of angles when climbing to the second level.
- Has good footwork and technique. Balanced and agile pass protection set with excellent hand placement.
- A stout, powerful interior blocker whose game is built on toughness and power, displays impressive movement skills as well.
- Anchors well and plays with the low center of gravity and natural bend to seal the inside lanes. Has violent hands with hustle to close off bubble screens and lead to flatten linebackers. Nasty demeanor and highly coachable.
- Road-grading blocker with traits that will translate to the NFL. He’s built like a refrigerator, wide-shouldered with thick, powerful legs and arms.
Scouting Report: Weaknesses
- Not great in space and tends to lose power the farther Paillant has to move; he doesn’t finish as well on the second level as he does battle in the phone booth around the line of scrimmage.
- Tends to slip off blocks when going against bigger linemen, and he too often finishes plays on the ground.
- He’s better moving forward than he is retreating as a pass protector, where he often seems to be a bit out of sync.
