Atonio Mafi from Junipero Serra High School was rated a 3-star recruit by ESPN and handed a 3-star grade by 247 Sports. Following high school, Mafi opted to join UCLA.In 2018 as a freshman Mafi saw action in just one game and played a total of one snap for the Bruins. He allowed no QB hurries, no QB hits, and no sacks while playing sparingly.
As a sophomore in 2020 he played in 7 games and a total of 105 snaps. He conceded just 2 QB hurries, no QB hits, and 2 sacks while playing at left guard.
In 2021 as a junior Mafi saw action in 10 games and totaled 386 snaps. He gave up just 3 QB hurries, one QB hit, and 2 sacks while playing the majority of his snaps at right guard, and the rest at left guard.

- Consistently keeps his feet sliding while maintaining power when dealing with speed, often sending speed rushers flying past the pocket
- Is effective when asked to pull, showing the agility, speed, and overall range to get out as a lead blocker, where he locates defenders and shows the ability to adjust and land blocks against linebackers.
Scouting Report: Weaknesses
- Sometimes Mafi simply gets too impatient to sit back in his set, reaching and lunging and generally playing with poor balance.
- As a pass protector, he gets caught reaching and lunging when matched up against quickness.
- Doesn’t display the agility and speed to effectively get around as a pulling guard
