Brendan Sorsby grew up in Denton, Texas, and played football and baseball at Lake Dallas High School, where he was the Denton Record-Chronicle's quarterback of the year in 2021. He signed with Indiana, played one game in 2022 and started seven games in 2023, throwing for 1,587 yards, 15 touchdowns and five interceptions after opening the season as the starter against Ohio State.Sorsby transferred to Cincinnati and threw for 2,813 yards and 18 touchdowns in 2024. He broke out in 2025, throwing for 2,782 yards, 26 touchdowns and five interceptions and running for 596 yards and nine scores as the Bearcats went 7-5, and he was a Davey O'Brien Award semifinalist. He entered the portal in December 2025 and committed to Texas Tech as 247Sports' No. 2 overall transfer.
In April 2026, after the NCAA alerted Texas Tech to his gambling activity, Sorsby entered a treatment facility for a sports gambling addiction. Court documents later showed he admitted to more than $90,000 in bets over four years, including about 40 bets on Indiana football in 2022 before he played a game, and he has denied point-shaving allegations. The NCAA ruled him ineligible, the NFL declined to hold a supplemental draft, and he parted ways with Texas Tech. Under a settlement with the NFL, he is sitting out the 2026 season and training for the 2027 draft, with access to the Senior Bowl, a pro day and team visits.

Those are coachable issues for a player with his tools and experience. He also threw for 2,813 yards in 2024, giving him two productive seasons of tape at Cincinnati.
