Avante Dickerson from Westside High School was rated a 4-star recruit by ESPN and handed a 4-star grade by 247 Sports. Following high school, Dickerson opted to join Oregon after being heavily recruited.In 2021 as a freshman Dickerson saw action in 10 games and played a total of 56 snaps at cornerback for the Ducks. He recorded only 4 tackles, no assists, while adding no stops. In coverage Dickerson notched up no pass breakups, no interceptions, and QB rating when targetted of 113.5.

- Fast and agile, Dickerson sticks to receivers and closes on the ball.
- Closes to the ball quite well and possesses the hands to snatch throws away from his frame.
- Has a nice blend of length, speed, and quickness. He’s at his best mirroring routes underneath, showing fluid movement skills and the ability to change directions on a dime.
- Should excel as a zone defender because of his closing speed to wrap receivers after the catch.
Scouting Report: Weaknesses
- Not enough hip fluidity to adjust to topnotch NFL route runners.
- Feet aren’t ideal, as Dickerson gets sloppy in his backpedal and can be sluggish when transitioning to close on the ball.
- Rght now he’s only capable of playing in trail position, and even then he’d likely be draw a lot of flags.
