Draft Profile: Bio
Two-time first-team All-Ohio at Sandusky High School, Terion Stewart rushed for 2,758 yards and 39 touchdowns as a junior and followed that with 2,150 yards and 29 scores as a senior. Despite that production, he signed with Bowling Green as a three-star recruit.His early years with the Falcons were quiet. He ran for 295 yards as a freshman in the shortened 2020 season, then added 412 yards and five scores in 2021. Stewart did not play in 2022 due to personal and mental health reasons. He returned in 2023 looking like a different player, rushing for 762 yards and eight touchdowns in nine games to earn second-team All-MAC. His yards per rush after contact that season ranked second nationally.
Stewart built on that in 2024, totaling 898 yards and six touchdowns while earning first-team All-MAC honors. He transferred to Virginia Tech for his final season and settled into a complementary role behind Marcellous Hawkins, carrying 82 times for 469 yards in 10 games. His best performance came at NC State: 175 yards including an 85-yard run.
Scouting Report: Strengths
- Career missed-tackles-forced rate of 0.47 per attempt is among the best in this class.
- Compact frame and low center of gravity give him real contact balance through traffic.
- Stiff arm is a go-to weapon, and he deploys it with good timing and force.
- Quick first two steps let him hit the hole before linebackers can close.
- Change-of-direction ability and lateral agility are well above average for his size.
- Runs with natural pad level and leverage, making him hard to square up in the hole.
- Showed willingness in pass protection, and his low base gives him a starting point there.
Scouting Report: Weaknesses
- Ball security is a real problem: five fumbles and three drops across his last two seasons.
- Virtually nonexistent as a receiver, with just nine catches in five college seasons.
- Vision comes and goes; he sometimes misses cutback lanes that are clearly there.
- Below-average long speed limits his ability to finish runs once he reaches the second level.
- Shorter stride length caps his gear on breakaway attempts against pursuit angles.
- Off-field concerns and a lost 2022 season will draw questions from teams during the process.
Scouting Report: Summary
Stewart fits best as an early-down complement in a gap or power scheme. His compact build, contact balance, and ability to shed tacklers give him a clear role as the guy who comes in to grind out yards between the tackles on first and second down. He runs downhill with intent, and his low pad level means he wins at the point of attack more often than his size would suggest. The NC State tape, where he gashed a Power Four defense for 175 yards, is a good window into what he can do when the blocking is even halfway there.The limitations are real, though. He is not going to be a three-down back at the NFL level. The receiving production simply is not there, and the ball security issues are the kind of thing that will keep a back glued to the bench on late downs and in close games. His recognition in pass protection needs work too; the physical tools are present with his frame and leverage, but he is slow to diagnose blitzes and pick up assignments. That has to improve if he wants snaps beyond early-down carries.
If a coaching staff can live with a back who comes in for 8 to 12 touches per game and moves the chains between the twenties, Stewart can fill that role. He has enough burst and tackle-breaking ability to pop a chunk run once or twice a game, which adds value. But the ball security, limited receiving, and questions about his time away from the field in 2022 are all factors that will weigh on how comfortable teams feel investing in him.
