In high school, he was awarded the 2019 Washington Post All-Met Offensive Player of the Year, was a 2020 Under Armour All-American, was a Three-time First Team WCAC, and a First Team Washington Post All-Met. As a senior, he caught 60 passes for 950 yards and seven touchdowns in 2019 After high school, Jarrett opted to join his hometown, Maryland. after being heavily recruited

He led the Terps in pretty much every receiving category and as a result received a bevy of awards including a 2021 Pro Football Focus Honorable Mention All-Big Ten, a 2021 Phil Steele Third Team All-Big Ten spot, a 2021 Pro Football Focus Preseason All-Big Ten place and also made the 2021 Athlon Sports Preseason All-Big Ten.

As a junior in 2022 he played 11 games and hauled in 40 catches for a decent 471 yards for an average of 11.8 yards per catch, with 3 TDs, and an impressive QB rating when targeted of 100.5.
Scouting Report: Strengths
  • Very good hands, accepts the ball fluidly on most throws and is ready to make a play afterward. Makes catches in traffic, even going up over taller defenders with vertical and toughness.
  • Jarrett has the straight-line speed to stretch the middle of the field, and he consistently runs away from defenders in catch-and-run situations.
  • He shows elite initial quickness off the line of scrimmage, and he has just enough strength to be able to escape the jam at the next level. He’s a coordinated hands catcher who effectively tracks the ball downfield.
  • Made Bruce Feldman's Freaks List at #60. He wrote "Jarrett has trimmed down since arriving at 202 pounds thanks to a better diet and a more thorough training program. “I feel a lot faster,” said the 6-0, 194-pounder. He clocked 22.9 on the GPS this month and has vertical-jumped 41.3 inches."
  • He fights his way off the line of scrimmage against press coverage, showing quick, violent hands and good balance.
  • Jarrett has strong hands and is extremely competitive, and he has an innate sense of timing when it comes to elevating and high-pointing balls.
  • He’s also a catch-and-run threat, a creative runner who has good vision in the open field; he’ll be an option to return kicks as well.
Scouting Report: Weaknesses
  • Jarrett is small - probably smaller than his advertised height and has limited strength. Will likely be viewed as a slot-only player at the next level
  • Does not always use his hands to secure deep throws, allowing the ball into his pads and chest.
  • Jarrett has limited arm length and as a result, his catch radius is not ideal
  • Jarrett has only an average route tree - hopefully, he will get a chance to expand it in 2022. If not it may take a while to adjust to the pro game
  • While Jarrett is a willing blocker his poor technique and small stature seriously limits his effectiveness
Scouting Report: Summary
Rakim Jarrett is an excellent slot pro prospect, he displays elite long speed and quickness combined with very good acceleration and decent hands. He however is limited by his size and route tree and can be dominated by bigger DBs.

If Jarrett puts up big numbers this season expect him to be looked at as a potential second pick, if his production is only average his floor is probably the fifth round.

*Percentile Ranking in Player's Position Group (NFL Combine Historical Data): This percentile reflects how a player's specific statistics rank in comparison to historical performances at the NFL Combine, specifically within their position group. A higher percentile indicates a better performance. For instance, being in the 90th percentile for a particular stat means the player outperformed 90% of their peers in that category.

*Similarity Percentage: This percentage is calculated based on a comprehensive analysis of various factors, including height, weight, 40-yard dash times, on-field performance statistics, and overall player rating. The analysis is conducted against our database of draft prospects from 2021 to 2023. This similarity score helps in evaluating how closely a current prospect aligns with past prospects. It is important to note, however, that this score reflects similarities based on college production and attributes, and does not account for eventual success or performance in the NFL.
