Montrae Braswell attended Avon Park High School and was Following high school, Braswell opted to join Central Michigan.In 2019 as a freshman Braswell saw action in 13 games and played a total of 517 snaps at cornerback for the Chippewas. He recorded 28 tackles, one assist, while adding 13 stops. In coverage Braswell notched up 6 pass breakups, one interception, and a QB rating when targetted of 106.4.
After the end of the season he transferred to Missouri State where as a sophomore for the Bears in 2020 Braswell played in 7 games and logged 465 snaps for the Bears. He made 36 tackles, 7 assists, and had 13 stops. In coverage he totaled 3 pass breakups, 3 interceptions, and an elite QB rating when targetted of 52.2.
