Draft Profile: Bio
Emory Jones from Heard County High School was rated a 4-star recruit by ESPN and handed a 4-star grade by 247 Sports. After high school, Jones opted to join Florida.

In 2019 as a sophomore he played in 8 games as he passed for just 267 yards on 38 attempts with a completion percent of 65.8 for an average of 7.0 yards per pass, with just 3 TDs, while also taking no sacks, and putting up an excellent QB rating of 112.5. He made 42 runs for a total of 256 yards at an average of 6.1 per rush.

As a junior in 2020 Jones played a total of 6 games. He passed for just 216 yards on 33 attempts and put up a completion percentage of 57.6 for an average of 6.5 yards per attempt, with just 2 TDs, and allowing no sacks, with QB rating on the year of 84.9. As a runner he logged 34 runs for a total of 215 yards at an average of 6.3 per run.

In 2021 as a senior Jones saw action in 13 games as he threw for 2729 yards on 348 attempts with a completion percent of 64.4 for an average of 7.8 yards per pass, with 19 TDs, while taking 12 sacks, and totaling a QB rating of 91.0. He added 131 runs for a total of 817 yards at an average of 6.2 per run.

After season's end Jones transferred to Arizona State where as a fifth year senior Jones saw action in 8 games as he threw for 1530 yards on 200 attempts with a completion percent of 62.5 for an average of 7.7 yards per pass, with just 7 TDs, while taking 21 sacks, and totaling a QB rating of 89.4. He added 40 runs for a total of 174 yards at an average of 4.4 per run.
Scouting Report: Strengths
  • He’s a pure athlete, loose-limbed and flexible. Jones has the speed to pick up yardage in scramble situations.
  • Sees the field very well when the play breaks down and occasionally changes plays at the line.
  • He has a quick release and shows good accuracy on shorter throws when on the move to either side.
  • Ball placement is a strength. Jones has the natural instincts to make plays when forced to improvise.
  • Physically, Jones is a natural athlete who plays with the balance and light feet to float in the pocket.
  • He’s an athlete who runs well and must be accounted for in the read-option game.
Scouting Report: Weaknesses
  • Jones has a bad habit of fading and throwing off his back foot when the pocket gets muddled, and Jones is too often all arm when throwing on the move, sacrificing accuracy.
  • His arm is good but not great, and he loses accuracy and velocity when he is moved off his spot.
  • He is slight of frame, which is problematic for a dual-threat quarterback. Jones has marginal height for the pocket, and there’s not much room to add weight (NFL physicality will be an issue, especially if he’s going to use his legs on a consistent basis).

*Percentile Ranking in Player's Position Group (NFL Combine Historical Data): This percentile reflects how a player's specific statistics rank in comparison to historical performances at the NFL Combine, specifically within their position group. A higher percentile indicates a better performance. For instance, being in the 90th percentile for a particular stat means the player outperformed 90% of their peers in that category.

*Similarity Percentage: This percentage is calculated based on a comprehensive analysis of various factors, including height, weight, 40-yard dash times, on-field performance statistics, and overall player rating. The analysis is conducted against our database of draft prospects from 2021 to 2023. This similarity score helps in evaluating how closely a current prospect aligns with past prospects. It is important to note, however, that this score reflects similarities based on college production and attributes, and does not account for eventual success or performance in the NFL.
