Draft Profile: Bio
Bryce Young followed his father to Notre Dame. Bryant Young was a first-round pick out of Notre Dame in 1994 and spent 14 seasons in the NFL, and Bryce's mother ran track for the Irish. At Charlotte Christian School in North Carolina, Bryce made 97 tackles and 14 sacks as a senior, wrestled for two years and played in the Adidas All-American game.He played in 16 games as a true freshman in 2024 and blocked three kicks, tied for second most in FBS. In 2025 he played in 12 games with one start, making 20 tackles and two sacks.
Young has been a starter in every game this season. He had two sacks in the 49-10 win at Purdue, including a strip-sack that was returned for a touchdown, and added a sack against Rice. In the opener against Wisconsin he made three tackles and had three pressures.
Scouting Report: Strengths
- Long, explosive frame with rare speed, shown on his strip-sack at Purdue
- Sure tackler who has not missed a tackle all season
- Special teams weapon who blocked three kicks in 2024
- Holds the edge well against the run and keeps his outside arm free
Scouting Report: Weaknesses
- Pressure production is modest, with 15 in eight games
- Quiet in recent weeks, with no pressures against BYU or Navy
- Light for his height and still adding the strength to anchor
- Pass rush plan is raw, relying on length and speed more than hands
- As a true junior he may return to Notre Dame for 2027
Scouting Report: Summary
Young has the length, speed and bloodlines that get attention, and his best moments show it. He can turn the corner quickly, he finishes tackles, and the strip-sack at Purdue was the kind of play that sticks with scouts. He also brings real value on special teams. However, the production has not caught up with the traits. He has 15 pressures in eight games, he was quiet against BYU and Navy, and his rush still leans on athleticism rather than a plan. He needs to add strength to his frame as well.
Overall, Young is a high-upside edge who is still a year or two away. He projects as a priority free agent if he declares now, with a much higher ceiling if he returns to Notre Dame and develops his rush.

*Percentile Ranking in Player's Position Group (NFL Combine Historical Data): This percentile reflects how a player's specific statistics rank
in comparison to historical performances at the NFL Combine, specifically within their position group. A higher percentile indicates a better performance.
For instance, being in the 90th percentile for a particular stat means the player outperformed 90% of their peers in that category.
*Similarity Percentage: This percentage is calculated based on a comprehensive analysis of various factors, including height, weight, 40-yard dash times, on-field performance statistics, and overall player rating. The analysis is conducted against our database of draft prospects from 2021 to 2023. This similarity score helps in evaluating how closely a current prospect aligns with past prospects. It is important to note, however, that this score reflects similarities based on college production and attributes, and does not account for eventual success or performance in the NFL.
