Scouting Report: Strengths
- Exhibits good patience in pass protection, sitting back in his set rather than leaning and lunging.
- Has the feet to adjust when Boone anticipates what's coming. Effective trapping and bends at the knees with adequate core strength to absorb the bull rush. Can clear a path at the second level if he hits the target.
- Awareness is above-average for his limited experience. Sells trap block and can turn to seal. Fluid getting to and adjust at the second level.
- Boone does a nice job working with teammates to build the pocket, anchoring against bull rushers and displaying good awareness against stunts and twists.
- He is a work in progress with high-end physical traits. He’s extremely light on his feet for a 300-pounder, a natural knee bender who plays with balance and leverage.
- Boone will have a chance to develop as a right tackle or possibly inside at guard, where he could be an interesting prospect for a zone-blocking team. If nothing else, that versatility is enough to make him at least a quality reserve.
Scouting Report: Weaknesses
- Flashes the ability to move his man with his hands, but is not yet consistent in this area.
- He’s going to get pushed backward by speed to- power rushers on the next level, and he’ll potentially have a rough time if asked to protect on an island.
- Is more of a phone-booth blocker who has limited range. He’s also going to be somewhat limited as a pass protector, especially when it comes to mirroring against quickness.
