Scouting Report: Strengths
  • Has good ball skills to locate and attack the ball in the air.
  • Can get up under a receiver’s chin and has the speed to flip his hips and run downfield. Johnson has the quick and surprisingly powerful hands to jostle receivers early. But he’s at his best peeking into the backfield.
  • Has the length and speed to emerge as a starter two or three years down the line.
  • Has the quick feet to mirror receivers underneath. He also has the fluid hips and top-end speed to turn and run downfield. He shows good awareness when dropping into zone coverage, with good route recognition and the ability to break quickly and cover a lot of ground.
  • Instinctive, adept at reading routes and anticipating throws, and strong in zone coverage.
  • Has the fluidity, speed and quick feet to come down and defend slot receivers in man coverage. Johnson also does a nice job breaking down in space as a tackler after the catch.
  • Tracks the ball well and has the natural ball skills for forcing turnovers.
Scouting Report: Weaknesses
  • Suspect technician who too often lets the action come to him and energy and effort are too inconsistent.
  • Tends to play conservatively and give too much cushion when playing off.
  • Too often gives too much of a cushion while playing off his man, and it becomes especially problematic since he’s not a particularly willing tackler.

*Percentile Ranking in Player's Position Group (NFL Combine Historical Data): This percentile reflects how a player's specific statistics rank in comparison to historical performances at the NFL Combine, specifically within their position group. A higher percentile indicates a better performance. For instance, being in the 90th percentile for a particular stat means the player outperformed 90% of their peers in that category.

*Similarity Percentage: This percentage is calculated based on a comprehensive analysis of various factors, including height, weight, 40-yard dash times, on-field performance statistics, and overall player rating. The analysis is conducted against our database of draft prospects from 2021 to 2023. This similarity score helps in evaluating how closely a current prospect aligns with past prospects. It is important to note, however, that this score reflects similarities based on college production and attributes, and does not account for eventual success or performance in the NFL.
