After the end of the season Johnson transferred to Oregon where as a senior in 2023 he played 14 games and had an outstanding 86 catches for an outstanding 1182 yards for an average of 13.7 yards per catch, 10 TDs, and an excellent QB rating when targeted of 144.6.
Scouting Report: Strengths
  • He’s excellent downfield, accelerating to top speed quickly and stacking on top of cornerbacks. Johnson has excellent body control, contorting to make difficult catches and working well on back-shoulder throws.
  • He’s also a catch-and-run threat, a creative runner who has good vision in the open field; he’ll be an option to return kicks as well.
  • He shows good initial quickness off the line of scrimmage, and Johnson has enough strength to be able to consistently escape the jam at the next level. He’s a coordinated hands catcher who effectively tracks the ball downfield.
  • He runs precise routes, showing an innate feel for setting up defensive backs to create separation.
  • He’s also a violent runner with the ball in his hands. He’s very good working outside the numbers, showing excellent ball-tracking skills, and he does the little things well downfield, including leaving enough room on the sideline for his quarterback to drop in a throw.
  • Shows good sense as a route runner and provides an enormous catch radius over the middle of the field. Johnson has soft hands and uses his frame effectively to shield defenders, making him a major threat in the red zone.
  • Flashes the foot quickness and toughness to handle slot duties at the next level and lines up all over the field. Dangerous with the ball in his hands.
Scouting Report: Weaknesses
  • Johnson seems comfortable in traffic to the point where Johnson doesn’t make the effort to create separation.
  • Physically, he profiles as a guy who should have success facing the quarterback, but he struggles to gear down and make the necessary sharp cuts to create separation underneath.
  • He also had problems with drops when coming back to the action. Johnson has some issues against press coverage, sometimes spending too much time hand fighting at the line of scrimmage.

*Percentile Ranking in Player's Position Group (NFL Combine Historical Data): This percentile reflects how a player's specific statistics rank in comparison to historical performances at the NFL Combine, specifically within their position group. A higher percentile indicates a better performance. For instance, being in the 90th percentile for a particular stat means the player outperformed 90% of their peers in that category.

*Similarity Percentage: This percentage is calculated based on a comprehensive analysis of various factors, including height, weight, 40-yard dash times, on-field performance statistics, and overall player rating. The analysis is conducted against our database of draft prospects from 2021 to 2023. This similarity score helps in evaluating how closely a current prospect aligns with past prospects. It is important to note, however, that this score reflects similarities based on college production and attributes, and does not account for eventual success or performance in the NFL.
