Scouting Report: Strengths
- He’s a fluid athlete with excellent short-area quickness; Rice should be able to create separation, and he has the straight-line speed to threaten down the seam.
- Rice is a natural playmaker, at his best with the ball in his hands.
- A fluid mover capable of creating some separation over the middle of the field, he has the long arms and soft hands to provide a sizable catch radius.
- Shows good sense as a route runner and provides an enormous catch radius over the middle of the field. He has soft hands and uses his frame effectively to shield defenders, making him a major threat in the red zone.
- Has a tall frame and long arms, plus strong hands, giving him a huge catch radius.
- Although he is more of a possession target than a field stretcher, he fiercely competitive demeanor and run-after-catch ability make him a major threat in the middle of the field.
- Rice plays with a smoothness and balance, and he shows a knack for setting up defensive backs.
- Very consistent prospect who has increased production every year at SMU - rally broke ou in 2022 with 1344 YDs and 10 TDs
Scouting Report: Weaknesses
- He’ll be coming to the NFL from a wide-open spread offense in which Rice ran a limited route tree.
- Has inflated stats due to mainly running underneath routes at SMU - remains to be seen if he create yardage consistently as a deep threat
- He’ll have to develop a better feel for sitting down against zone coverage
- Has only been used on a very limited route tree - the NFL will be a major step up in this regard
- Doesn't separate to the extent you would expect given his athletic profile
Scouting Report: Summary
Rashee Rice is a solid pro prospect, who has pretty much everything you look for in a pro receiver, he's got good speed, nice overall length, and catch radius along with pretty decent soft hands, and his productivity curve is heading in the right direction. He's by knowns a perfect prospect however, and had displayed some inconsistency where he will make a circus catch one minute and drop an easy the next. Also despite being an experienced player in overall playtime he's never been given a diverse set of routes to run and so he'll be going into the NFL as super raw in some ways.
We expect Rice to represent value as a second or third-round prospect come the 2023 NFL Draft.

Update - 04/23/2023
Rice hasn't displayed the expected speed at the Senior Bowl where he hasn't been able to separate from single coverage. He also measured in at 6-0 and not 6-2 as previously billed.Rashee Rice Video Review
