Draft Profile: Bio
Trapilo's football pedigree runs deep, with his late father Steve having been an All-American at Boston College before playing in the NFL. A standout at Boston College High School, Trapilo earned MIAA All-State First Team honors in 2019 before signing with the Eagles as a highly-rated recruit. After redshirting in 2020, he saw action in 10 games with two starts as a redshirt freshman in 2021.

In 2022, Trapilo locked down the left tackle spot for 10 starts, showcasing his durability by playing every offensive snap in seven of those games. He missed two games due to injury but returned to finish the season strong. The 2023 campaign marked Trapilo's breakout year as he shifted to right tackle, starting all 12 games and earning Second Team All-ACC honors.

Trapilo's pass protection skills were on full display in 2023, as he didn't allow a single sack in 363 dropback snaps. His contributions were vital to Boston College's ground attack, which averaged 198.8 rushing yards per game, ranking 13th nationally and second in the ACC. Trapilo's consistent performance saw him on the field for every offensive snap in eight games, including a 308-yard rushing performance against Georgia Tech.
Scouting Report: Strengths
  • Mammoth frame with plus length, creating a wide blocking radius and giving edge rushers fits
  • Stone wall in pass pro, showcasing advanced kick-slide technique and mirror ability
  • Heavy hands paired with vise-grip strength, locking onto defenders and controlling the point of attack
  • Positional versatility, having lined up at both tackle spots in college
  • Impressive anchor, able to absorb bull rushes and maintain pocket integrity
  • Processes stunts and blitzes quickly, rarely caught out of position
  • Nasty finisher who looks to bury defenders and play through the whistle
  • Iron man durability, consistently logging full game snap counts
Scouting Report: Weaknesses
ul>
  • Waist bender who struggles to consistently play with leverage due to his height
  • Limited lateral agility and change of direction skills, potentially hampering zone blocking effectiveness
  • Run blocking technique lags behind pass pro skills, needs to improve hand placement and drive
  • Can lunge on initial punch, compromising balance and leading to whiffed blocks
  • Needs to refine hand placement in run game to maximize natural power and length
  • Scouting Report: Summary
A mountain of a man with prototype NFL tackle size, Trapilo boasts the frame and length that offensive line coaches covet. His ability to stone-wall pass rushers and keep the pocket clean will have teams salivating, particularly those employing vertical passing attacks. The former Eagle has shown he can be a true bookend tackle, capable of handling both edge and inside moves with aplomb.

While Trapilo's pass protection chops are evident, his run blocking acumen needs polish. He flashes the ability to move defenders off their spot but lacks consistency in this area. Teams running power schemes will likely view him as a better fit than those heavily reliant on zone concepts. His frame suggests untapped potential as a road-grader, but he'll need to improve his pad level and hand placement to fully unlock his run-blocking potential.

Trapilo's draft stock will hinge on how teams project his ceiling versus his current skillset. His pass protection skills provide a solid floor, but questions about his ability to dominate in the run game may give some teams pause.

*Percentile Ranking in Player's Position Group (NFL Combine Historical Data): This percentile reflects how a player's specific statistics rank in comparison to historical performances at the NFL Combine, specifically within their position group. A higher percentile indicates a better performance. For instance, being in the 90th percentile for a particular stat means the player outperformed 90% of their peers in that category.

*Similarity Percentage: This percentage is calculated based on a comprehensive analysis of various factors, including height, weight, 40-yard dash times, on-field performance statistics, and overall player rating. The analysis is conducted against our database of draft prospects from 2021 to 2023. This similarity score helps in evaluating how closely a current prospect aligns with past prospects. It is important to note, however, that this score reflects similarities based on college production and attributes, and does not account for eventual success or performance in the NFL.
