Hailing from Nevada, Bernard first made waves at Liberty High School, where he earned the prestigious Gatorade Player of the Year honor for the state in his senior year. His impressive high school career, which included 956 yards and 12 touchdowns on 53 receptions in his final season, caught the attention of major college recruiters.Bernard's collegiate journey began at Michigan State in 2022, where he appeared in all 12 games as a true freshman. Despite limited opportunities, he managed to make an impact, recording seven receptions for 128 yards and two touchdowns. He also contributed on special teams, returning six kickoffs for 119 yards. Seeking a larger role, Bernard transferred to Washington for the 2023 season.
