Scouting Report: Strengths
  • Johnson shows impressive burst and enough quickness to occasionally threaten the edge as a pass rusher.
  • He’s very instinctive when it comes to countering and solid with overall hand usage.
  • Flashes strength at the point of attack with active, violent hand use. Forceful with his upper body to defeat blocks. Strong hustle player.
  • He has a wide base and a low center of gravity to hold his ground, as well as the upper-body strength to shed blockers.
  • Johnson has the strong core and powerful hands to shed blockers, and Johnson shows excellent instincts with the ability to quickly locate the ball.
  • He’s effective as an edge setter, showing the ability to drop anchor and ward off blocks.
Scouting Report: Weaknesses
  • Johnson doesn’t show much in the way of dynamic change-of-direction ability on counter moves, and Johnson also has a limited repertoire of pass-rushing moves.
  • Because he’s a bit stiff as an athlete, a transition to 3-4 OLB might be a stretch.
  • Johnson doesn't have the elite quickness or flexibility to flatten off the edge against NFL blockers and might have to add bulk to be a 3-4 defense five-technique, or strong-side end in a 4-3.

*Percentile Ranking in Player's Position Group (NFL Combine Historical Data): This percentile reflects how a player's specific statistics rank in comparison to historical performances at the NFL Combine, specifically within their position group. A higher percentile indicates a better performance. For instance, being in the 90th percentile for a particular stat means the player outperformed 90% of their peers in that category.

*Similarity Percentage: This percentage is calculated based on a comprehensive analysis of various factors, including height, weight, 40-yard dash times, on-field performance statistics, and overall player rating. The analysis is conducted against our database of draft prospects from 2021 to 2023. This similarity score helps in evaluating how closely a current prospect aligns with past prospects. It is important to note, however, that this score reflects similarities based on college production and attributes, and does not account for eventual success or performance in the NFL.
