Scouting Report: Strengths
- Often used on deep routes, getting separation down the sideline or over the middle on crossing routes by extending his arms rather than pure speed.
- Balanced, savvy route runner with top field awareness, setting up and selling routes beautifully.
- Made Bruce Feldman's Freak's List - ranked #75. He wrote, "The 6-2 Floridian has packed on 17 pounds since coming from Eugene 18 months ago, and is up to 191 pounds while also cutting his body fat from 8.6 percent to 6.4. Since then, Davis’ vertical has gone from 33.5 inches to 40 and his broad jump has improved from 10-2 to 10-7. He also did a 4.20 pro agility time this offseason."
- Shows good sense as a route runner and provides an enormous catch radius over the middle of the field. Davis has soft hands and uses his frame effectively to shield defenders, making him a major threat in the red zone.
- Davis has quick feet and good body control, allowing him to gear down and quickly get in and out of cuts. His hands are good, and he’s a creative runner after the catch with the elusiveness to slip tackles in space.
- An excellent blocker on the outside, Davis also adds value in the running game.
Scouting Report: Weaknesses
- He’ll be coming to the NFL from a wide-open spread offense in which Davis ran a limited route tree.
- Davis also had problems with drops when coming back to the action. He has some issues against press coverage, sometimes spending too much time hand fighting at the line of scrimmage.
- His ability to track the ball is good enough, but he too often let the ball get into his body downfield rather than snatching it with his hands.
- Davis also lacks suddenness as a route runner, and that is a potential issue at the next level.
