The board owed the 49ers one, and it paid up: Jack Nelson, the No. 177 name on the board, sitting there at Round 6, Pick 30 like a gift left on the doorstep.

That quarterback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. Gore Jr. has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. They went 5 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.

In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.
