The Bears clearly saw something nobody else did in Baylor Cupp, taking him 192 picks ahead of his grade. The board is not convinced. The warnings were there, and the F is the bill.

They lost the exchange badly enough to drag the whole class down. They are betting the present roster is worth a lighter draft next spring.

The Oladapo pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged. On the needs board they went 8 of 8, with edge rusher the one that mattered most.

In the end, a class that has to defy its grades just to matter.
