Draft Grade — Packers

FutureB-
Grand theft in No. 216: the Packers steal Phillips and grade out a B-. Somewhere a general manager is explaining how Andru Phillips got past him. The Packers do not have to explain a thing at the 216th overall pick. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B-.
Reaching for Wright left real value on the table behind him. They will regret leaving edge rusher for another day if the season turns on it. Cornerback was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
Nearly every premium pick went to that side of the ball.
Good work on the whole, with edge rusher the one box left unchecked.
Pick Analysis
Pick25
Rnd1
Cooper DeJean
In pick 25 they get a press-man option on the boundary, outstanding value to boot. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick41
Rnd2
Jackson Powers-Johnson
The board had cheaper options than Jackson Powers-Johnson at the 41st pick, and it noticed. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick57
Rnd2
Edgerrin Cooper
Edgerrin Cooper at slot 57 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick88
Rnd3
McKinnley Jackson
No drama and no debate, McKinnley Jackson went about where he belonged in No. 88. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick91
Rnd3
Tykee Smith
They paid sticker price for Tykee Smith in pick No. 91, and that is fine. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick126
Rnd4
Jaylen Wright
Jaylen Wright at Round 4, Pick 26 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick168
Rnd5
Dadrion Taylor-Demerson
Good price on Dadrion Taylor-Demerson in the Round 5 slot, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. It is more luxury than necessity; they were already set here.
Pick203
Rnd6
Chau Smith-Wade
Chau Smith-Wade in the 203rd overall pick is a gift, value that borders on unfair. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick216
Rnd6
Andru Phillips
Andru Phillips at pick 216 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick243
Rnd7
Darius Muasau
A reasonable price with a little left over, Darius Muasau in Round 7, Pick 23. Stacking talent where they were already deep.
Pick251
Rnd7
Walter Rouse
Walter Rouse at the 251st pick is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
