Whoever sat across the table from the Eagles should ask for a receipt. They cleaned the room out, prying loose far more value than they gave up, and it was the quiet MVP of their weekend.
However the rest shakes out, Rosengarten at that price is a win they earned. Leaving interior defensive lineman unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. They will need Jacobs to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it.
Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 22 they get a sticky cover corner. The biggest hole, addressed.
A slide stopped in pick 50, with Tyler Nubin worth more than the price. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Good price on Marshawn Kneeland in the 97th overall pick, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
A straight-up fair deal on Cedric Gray at No. 128, value and slot in agreement. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Johnny Wilson in pick No. 143. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
They barely believed it either: Roger Rosengarten still on the board at slot 170. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
The board had Cody Schrader higher than pick No. 171, and the running back fell to them anyway. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Luke McCaffrey is a better player than slot 178 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Curtis Jacobs at the Round 6 slot is a conviction pick that outran the value. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
