Las Vegas Raiders

Best value of the weekend goes to the Raiders for Eichenberg: B+.

by Silver · 2024 NFL Draft · 11 picks · 2 steals · 5 reaches

Future B-

The Raiders ran the phones like sharks, prying loose value on deal after deal until the ledger was lopsided.

Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Eichenberg. For all the activity, quarterback went untouched, which is hard to explain.

Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.13 · Pick 13 · Taliese Fuaga · OT · rank 17
In the Round 1 slot they get an anchor for the offensive line. Exactly the need they had to hit.
R2.27 · Pick 59 · Brenden Rice · WR · rank 69
They went early on Brenden Rice in pick 59, and the value did not follow. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
R3.22 · Pick 85 · Christian Mahogany · OG · rank 79
Christian Mahogany in Round 3, Pick 22 lands just on the right side of the ledger. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
R3.33 · Pick 96 · Khyree Jackson · CB · rank 105
Khyree Jackson at the 96th overall pick is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
R4.5 · Pick 105 · Leonard Taylor III · DL · rank 112
A straight-up fair deal on Leonard Taylor III at slot 105, value and slot in agreement. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
R4.13 · Pick 113 · Darius Robinson · DL-EDGE · rank 121
Darius Robinson in pick No. 113 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
R5.11 · Pick 147 · Tommy Eichenberg · LB · rank 127
Tommy Eichenberg at pick 147 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
R6.20 · Pick 195 · Jared Wiley · TE · rank 205
The board had cheaper options than Jared Wiley at slot 195, and it noticed. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
R7.1 · Pick 221 · Jawhar Jordan · RB · rank 209
Jawhar Jordan at Round 7, Pick 1 is money in the bank, a running back taken below his worth. A need, and now a little less of one.
R7.11 · Pick 231 · Steele Chambers · LB · rank 231
Steele Chambers at the Round 7 slot is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
R7.14 · Pick 234 · Mark Perry · S · rank 244
A reach for Mark Perry in the 234th overall pick; a little patience would have been rewarded. It adds depth where they could use a little.
