Draft Grade — Cowboys
Overall

FutureB-
The Cowboys cashed the board's mistake on Johnson: B. The best pick of the weekend was also the simplest. The Cowboys watched Cornelius Johnson slide 28 picks past his grade and did not hesitate. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B.
A whole weekend of picks and quarterback is somehow still a want. If Jackson pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about.
Small wins on the phones, but wins all the same. The roster is better shaped than it was, with wide receiver chief among the fixes.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but quarterback.
Pick Analysis
Pick32
Rnd1
Jackson Powers-Johnson
In the Round 1 slot they get a blindside protector at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick56
Rnd2
Kingsley Suamataia
A straight-up fair deal on Kingsley Suamataia at Round 2, Pick 24, value and slot in agreement. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick87
Rnd3
Trey Benson
Trey Benson in the 87th overall pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick90
Rnd3
Cedric Gray
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Cedric Gray well ahead of where he belonged. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick99
Rnd3
McKinnley Jackson
A real head-scratcher, McKinnley Jackson in the 99th pick is miles ahead of his ranking. The roster fit checks out.
Pick134
Rnd4
Johnny Wilson
They let Johnny Wilson come to them and pounced at pick No. 134. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick154
Rnd5
Nehemiah Pritchett
They read the board right and Nehemiah Pritchett was the payoff at pick 154. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick174
Rnd5
Grayson Murphy
They paid sticker price for Grayson Murphy in No. 174, and that is fine. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick213
Rnd6
Jaylan Ford
A slide stopped in slot 213, with Jaylan Ford worth more than the price. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick216
Rnd6
Cornelius Johnson
They will replay Cornelius Johnson at the 216th pick for years; that is how good the value is. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick233
Rnd7
Dominique Hampton
No edge and no loss on Dominique Hampton in Round 7, Pick 13; it is a wash and a sensible one. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick244
Rnd7
Ryan Watts
Ryan Watts at pick No. 244 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
