Whitetuna DRAFTING FOR THECommanders

Draft Grade — Commanders
Overall
A
ValueB
NeedB+
TradesA+
FutureA+
The Commanders won the weekend at the trade table. Grade: A. Whoever sat across the table from the Commanders should ask for a receipt. They cleaned the room out, prying loose far more value than they gave up, and it was the quiet MVP of their weekend.
It is not that Liufau is a bad player; it is that the Commanders had louder needs to answer first. Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Nelson. The running back hole is the one line item this class does not answer.
The kind of weekend a front office frames and hangs on the wall.
Pick Analysis
Pick8
Rnd1
Olumuyiwa Fashanu
No edge and no loss on Olumuyiwa Fashanu in pick 8; it is a wash and a sensible one. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick36
Rnd2
JT Tuimoloau
Good price on JT Tuimoloau in slot 36, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick40
Rnd2
Emeka Egbuka
Emeka Egbuka at the 40th pick is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick43
Rnd2
Ja'Tavion Sanders
They took Ja'Tavion Sanders at par in the 43rd overall pick, which is nothing to complain about. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick67
Rnd3
Edgerrin Cooper
They did well to land Edgerrin Cooper in pick No. 67, just ahead of his grade. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick74
Rnd3
Christian Haynes
Christian Haynes in Round 3, Pick 10 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick100
Rnd3
Marist Liufau
A want over a need in the Round 3 slot: Marist Liufau adds a linebacker while running back and interior defensive lineman keeps waiting.
Pick102
Rnd4
Tykee Smith
Tykee Smith at No. 102 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick141
Rnd5
Mike Sainristil
Mike Sainristil at pick 141 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the cornerback. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick181
Rnd6
Sam Hartman
A straight-up fair deal on Sam Hartman at the 181st overall pick, value and slot in agreement. The roster fit checks out.
Pick223
Rnd7
Zion Nelson
The board had Zion Nelson higher than the Round 7 slot, and the offensive lineman fell to them anyway. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
