Nobody had Curtis Jacobs this high, and it is not close. The Vikings reached 34 spots to get him at the Round 5 slot.
They punted on quarterback, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. Whatever else happened, they won the night they took McMillan.
On the needs board they went 5 of 8, with edge rusher the one that mattered most. Nearly every premium pick went to that side of the ball.
A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
Fair-plus on Chop Robinson, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
They took Cooper DeJean at par in No. 52, which is nothing to complain about. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Jalen McMillan at the 120th pick. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
A tidy little value on Ray Davis in pick No. 157, a step better than break-even. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Curtis Jacobs at Round 5, Pick 25 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Jaden Hicks at the Round 5 slot is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
By-the-book stuff, Jordan Burch at the Round 6 slot squarely in line with his ranking. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
They liked Zion Nelson enough to skip the value, taking him in pick 241. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
