They finally answered the question that shadows every other one. Jayden Daniels is the Vikings' quarterback, full stop. Good, not great, and the B- says as much.
The cost of the Hunt reach is exactly the players who went right after him. They will regret leaving safety for another day if the season turns on it.
Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get their quarterback of the future. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
By-the-book stuff, Xavier Worthy at Round 2, Pick 12 squarely in line with his ranking. It fills a real need, too.
This one needs a full-page explanation: Jalyx Hunt in the 108th overall pick, miles early. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
A premium they did not need to pay, Elijah Jones a notch or two before his time. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
James Williams in pick 157 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. A minor need, but a need all the same.
No edge and no loss on Decamerion Richardson in pick No. 167; it is a wash and a sensible one. It is more luxury than necessity; they were already set here.
Delmar Glaze at the 177th pick is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Trente Jones at slot 230 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Carson Steele at the 232nd overall pick is a conviction pick that outran the value. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
