The Vikings spent the weekend waiting on one name, and it fell: Johnny Wilson, the No. 79 name on the board, in the Round 4 slot. A dependable weekend that grades out a B-.
The offensive lineman spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. They left with quarterback solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off. They reloaded the coverage unit in bulk.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but offensive lineman.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 11 they get a lockdown presence outside. Need was not the driver here.
No drama and no debate, J.J. McCarthy went about where he belonged in the 42nd pick. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
They robbed the room for Johnny Wilson here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. A need, and now a little less of one.
Tommy Eichenberg at pick 130 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A minor itch, scratched.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Johnny Dixon at Round 5, Pick 12. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
A market-rate edge rusher, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Keith Randolph Jr.. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Austin Booker in the 165th overall pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Value with a capital V on Jahdae Barron in No. 179, a genuine coup. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Kimani Vidal in pick No. 230 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
