Draft Grade — Bears
Overall
B-
ValueB
NeedB
TradesB-
FutureB-
Williams is the Bears' new face under center. Grade: B-. The search is over. The Bears handed the keys to Caleb Williams, and the whole operation now runs on his development. A dependable weekend that grades out a B-.
The edge rusher spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. They will need Irving to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it.
Running back is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
Pick Analysis
Pick1
Rnd1
Caleb Williams
In the Round 1 slot they get a passer to set the clock by at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick9
Rnd1
Rome Odunze
No edge and no loss on Rome Odunze in slot 9; it is a wash and a sensible one. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick75
Rnd3
Kingsley Suamataia
Good price on Kingsley Suamataia in Round 3, Pick 11, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick122
Rnd4
Bucky Irving
A reach for Bucky Irving in pick 122; a little patience would have been rewarded. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
