A costly weekend of dealing drags the Cowboys to a D. There is conviction, and then there is this. The Cowboys took Evan Anderson a full 37 picks ahead of where the board had him, an overdraft steep enough that it colors the whole weekend.
Overpaying at the table undid a lot of the good work elsewhere. They will regret leaving quarterback for another day if the season turns on it. That Vaki pick is the receipt they will wave around later.
The Innis Gaines pickup adds a known quantity to a class of unknowns.
Add it up and it is a weekend the front office will hope everyone forgets, quarterback very much included.
