Arizona Cardinals

The Cardinals worked the phones like thieves and earned a A-.

The Cardinals torched the value chart for Donell Harris Jr., taking him 72 spots sooner than anyone had him slotted. A near-flawless weekend of work, and a A- to cap it.

The phones were where this weekend was really won. A whole weekend of picks and quarterback is somehow still a want.

Benson at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster.

A strong weekend's work, and a rare one to find this little fault with.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.26 · Pick 26 · JC Latham · OT · rank 18
In pick No. 26 they get a blindside protector, outstanding value to boot. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
R2.2 · Pick 34 · Troy Fautanu · OT · rank 34
Troy Fautanu at the 34th pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
R2.3 · Pick 35 · Ja'Tavion Sanders · TE · rank 47
Ja'Tavion Sanders at Round 2, Pick 3 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
R3.2 · Pick 66 · Gabriel Murphy · DL-EDGE · rank 112
Gabriel Murphy at the Round 3 slot is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
R4.3 · Pick 103 · Trey Benson · RB · rank 80
Somehow Trey Benson was still sitting there in pick 103, and they pounced on premier running back value. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
R4.4 · Pick 104 · Brenden Rice · WR · rank 82
Brenden Rice in slot 104 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
R4.33 · Pick 133 · Zion Tupuola-Fetui · DE-EDGE · rank 181
They left a pile of value on the table to take Zion Tupuola-Fetui this early at the Round 4 slot. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
R5.8 · Pick 144 · Keith Randolph Jr. · DL-EDGE · rank 159
They went early on Keith Randolph Jr. in the 144th overall pick, and the value did not follow. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
R6.13 · Pick 188 · Donell Harris Jr. · DL-EDGE · rank 260
They talked themselves into Donell Harris Jr. at the 188th pick, and the board did not agree. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
R7.5 · Pick 225 · Desmond Evans · DL-EDGE · rank 273
A wild overpay on Desmond Evans in Round 7, Pick 5, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
R7.7 · Pick 227 · Rondell Bothroyd · DL-EDGE · rank 283
Rondell Bothroyd in No. 227 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
R7.8 · Pick 228 · Steele Chambers · LB · rank 219
A quiet steal in pick No. 228: Steele Chambers for less than the market said. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
