After circling the position for what felt like forever, the Raiders committed. Jayden Daniels is the quarterback now, and the roster gets built to his timeline. No fireworks, but a solid B.
Getting Johnson where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class. They robbed the room blind at the table, and it lifts the grade on its own. They punted on running back, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the running back spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 6 they get the face of the franchise. A clean fit for the roster.
By-the-book stuff, Chris Braswell at the 45th overall pick squarely in line with his ranking. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Taking Cooper Beebe in slot 77 is close to grand larceny; an offensive lineman that good had no business lasting this long. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Dominick Puni at pick No. 112 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Elijah Jones in pick 148 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
A cornerback of that caliber at the Round 6 slot is the definition of value, full stop. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Steal is underselling it; Steele Chambers at Round 7, Pick 3 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Circle this one: Cornelius Johnson at the 229th pick is a fall that decides a draft. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
