Best value of the weekend goes to the 49ers for Washington: B-.

The rest of the league will want that one back. Tahj Washington tumbling to the 49ers in pick 215 is a gift they did not have to think twice about.

Leaving running back unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. Every board in the league had Driskell lower, and that gap is the story. They went 5 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.

Good work on the whole, with running back the one box left unchecked.

Pick Analysis
Pick31 Rnd1 Quinyon Mitchell
In the 31st overall pick they get a ballhawk on the outside, outstanding value to boot.
Pick63 Rnd2 Christian Haynes
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Christian Haynes. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick94 Rnd3 Gabriel Murphy
They took Gabriel Murphy at par in pick 94, which is nothing to complain about. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick124 Rnd4 James Williams
James Williams in the 124th pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick131 Rnd4 Cedric Gray
Nice patience on Cedric Gray, who had no business lasting to pick No. 131. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick133 Rnd4 Christian Jones
By-the-book stuff, Christian Jones at Round 4, Pick 33 squarely in line with his ranking. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick176 Rnd6 Dwight McGlothern
Dwight McGlothern at No. 176 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
Pick211 Rnd6 Erick All
A clean, defensible pick in slot 211 with a little surplus value in Erick All. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick215 Rnd6 Tahj Washington
They robbed the room for Tahj Washington here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick251 Rnd7 Ethan Driskell
A reach on Ethan Driskell in the Round 7 slot; the board had better options right there. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
