Thirty-one other rooms let Chau Smith-Wade slide, and the 49ers were the ones holding the card at No. 252. Highway robbery. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B-.

Reaching for Rice left real value on the table behind him. Leaving interior defensive lineman unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. They left with offensive lineman solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.

In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.
