Draft Grade — Bears
Overall B
ValueC NeedB TradesA+ FutureB-
The Bears fleeced the room on the phones and earned a B.

Somewhere a scout is still blinking. The Bears spent the Round 7 slot on Jehiem Oatis, a name the board had a full 106 spots lower. The bottom line is a respectable B.

Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Klubnik. Every deal seemed to tilt their way, which is not luck. The running back spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but running back.

Pick Analysis
Pick18 Rnd1 Will Campbell
No edge and no loss on Will Campbell in No. 18; it is a wash and a sensible one. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick38 Rnd2 Mykel Williams
They took Mykel Williams at par in the 38th overall pick, which is nothing to complain about. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick39 Rnd2 Jonah Savaiinaea
Jonah Savaiinaea at pick 39 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick111 Rnd4 Armand Membou
Armand Membou in pick No. 111 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick121 Rnd4 Garrett Dellinger
A wild overpay on Garrett Dellinger in the Round 4 slot, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. It fills a real need, too.
Pick161 Rnd5 J.Michael Sturdivant
Good price on J.Michael Sturdivant in Round 5, Pick 23, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick175 Rnd5 Cade Klubnik
Cade Klubnik in slot 175 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. The roster fit checks out.
Pick214 Rnd6 Hunter Wohler
Taking Hunter Wohler in pick No. 214 is close to grand larceny; a safety that good had no business lasting this long. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick226 Rnd7 Denver Harris
A real head-scratcher, Denver Harris in No. 226 is miles ahead of his ranking. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick234 Rnd7 Kyren Lacy
Kyren Lacy slid further than he should have, and the 234th overall pick is lovely value for the wide receiver. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick241 Rnd7 Jay Toia
This one needs a full-page explanation: Jay Toia in the Round 7 slot, miles early. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick251 Rnd7 Jehiem Oatis
Jehiem Oatis in the 251st pick is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
