Draft Grade — Commanders
Overall

FutureA+
A franchise passer in Williams headlines a A- weekend for the Commanders. The search is over. The Commanders handed the keys to Caleb Williams, and the whole operation now runs on his development. Little to argue with here, and the A- says so.
They robbed the room blind at the table, and it lifts the grade on its own. That tight end hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. Corcoran at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster.
In the end it comes back to Caleb Williams, and a haul good enough to build on right away.
Pick Analysis
Pick4
Rnd1
Caleb Williams
In Round 1, Pick 4 they get the face of the franchise at fair value.
Pick21
Rnd1
Jared Verse
In slot 21 they get a disruptor off the edge at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick40
Rnd2
Emeka Egbuka
The board had Emeka Egbuka higher than No. 40, and the wide receiver fell to them anyway. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick66
Rnd3
Josh Newton
Josh Newton in pick No. 66 lands just on the right side of the ledger. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick67
Rnd3
Rod Moore
A market-rate safety, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Rod Moore. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick100
Rnd3
Dominick Puni
No drama and no debate, Dominick Puni went about where he belonged in the 100th overall pick. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick102
Rnd4
Tyler Davis
Nothing to complain about; Tyler Davis went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick137
Rnd5
Javion Cohen
Javion Cohen in pick 137 is fair value, right on his grade. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick141
Rnd5
Jaylan Ford
They jumped the gun on Jaylan Ford, taking him earlier than his grade liked. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick181
Rnd6
Ben Bywater
A straight-up fair deal on Ben Bywater at Round 6, Pick 6, value and slot in agreement. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
Pick217
Rnd6
Dominic Lovett
Dominic Lovett in the 217th overall pick is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick223
Rnd7
Turner Corcoran
Value with a capital V on Turner Corcoran in the 223rd pick, a genuine coup. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick225
Rnd7
Zakhari Franklin
Zakhari Franklin is a better player than pick 225 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick246
Rnd7
Demani Richardson
By-the-book stuff, Demani Richardson at No. 246 squarely in line with his ranking. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
