Draft Grade — Packers

FutureB-
A sensible, unshowy class lands the Packers a B-. The move everyone will second-guess came early. The Packers reached some 33 spots for Kimani Vidal, and value like that does not grow back. A dependable weekend that grades out a B-.
That quarterback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. Edge rusher was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the quarterback spot they never got to.
Pick Analysis
Pick25
Rnd1
Quinyon Mitchell
In slot 25 they get a ballhawk on the outside. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick41
Rnd2
Edgerrin Cooper
Edgerrin Cooper at No. 41 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick59
Rnd2
Devontez Walker
They went early on Devontez Walker in pick No. 59, and the value did not follow. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick88
Rnd3
Dominick Puni
Dominick Puni in the 88th pick is fair value, right on his grade. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick91
Rnd3
Cole Bishop
Cole Bishop in pick 91 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick126
Rnd4
Christian Jones
No drama and no debate, Christian Jones went about where he belonged in the Round 4 slot. The roster fit checks out.
Pick127
Rnd4
Nehemiah Pritchett
Nehemiah Pritchett at pick No. 127 is a conviction pick that outran the value. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick169
Rnd5
Malik Mustapha
A market-rate safety, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Malik Mustapha. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
Pick202
Rnd6
Jared Wiley
No edge and no loss on Jared Wiley in No. 202; it is a wash and a sensible one. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick219
Rnd6
Kimani Vidal
This one needs a full-page explanation: Kimani Vidal in the 219th overall pick, miles early. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick245
Rnd7
Solomon Byrd
A reach for Solomon Byrd in pick 245; a little patience would have been rewarded. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick255
Rnd7
Tyler Owens
Tyler Owens in the 255th pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
