Overall C+
ValueB- NeedB TradesD FutureB-
A weekend that raised as many questions as it answered. The Steelers get a C+.

You can usually follow a front office's logic. This one is harder. The Steelers spent slot 85 on Sedrick Van Pran while quarterback, edge rusher and other spots sat unaddressed. It nets out a thoroughly average C+.

For all the activity, quarterback went untouched, which is hard to explain. They banked enough surplus on Rosemy-Jacksaint to cover a lot of smaller sins. The cost of the Williams reach is exactly the players who went right after him.

Call it incomplete, and check back in a couple of seasons.

Pick Analysis
Pick21 Rnd1 JC Latham
In the 21st overall pick they get a plug-and-play piece up front. Need was not the driver here.
Pick53 Rnd2 T'Vondre Sweat
T'Vondre Sweat at the 53rd overall pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick85 Rnd3 Sedrick Van Pran
They zigged when the board said zag, taking Sedrick Van Pran at offensive lineman with quarterback, edge rusher and other spots open.
Pick120 Rnd4 Jarrian Jones
No edge and no loss on Jarrian Jones in pick No. 120; it is a wash and a sensible one. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick121 Rnd4 James Williams
James Williams at the Round 4 slot jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick155 Rnd5 Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint
The board had Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint higher than pick 155, and the wide receiver fell to them anyway. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick242 Rnd7 Eric Gentry
A tidy little value on Eric Gentry in Round 7, Pick 22, a step better than break-even. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
