When a board-topper like Dwight McGlothern slides to No. 208, you do not overthink it, and the Raiders did not. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B.
The edge rusher hole is the one line item this class does not answer. They are betting Smith proves the room right and everyone else wrong. They left with cornerback solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
The skill positions did well by the weekend.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the edge rusher spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 13 they get a weapon on the perimeter at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
A clean, defensible pick in Round 2, Pick 12 with a little surplus value in Jordan Morgan. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Nothing to complain about; Cade Stover went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. It fills a real need, too.
Malik Washington in the 112th pick is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Tykee Smith in the 148th overall pick is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Dwight McGlothern in pick No. 208 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Trente Jones in pick 223 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Somehow Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint was still sitting there in the Round 7 slot, and they pounced on premier wide receiver value. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
