You can draft well and still miss the point. The Raiders did plenty of tidy work and somehow never got around to edge rusher, which was the need that mattered most. Call it a C+ and check back in two years.
They will need Beebe to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. A small leak at the table, if not a fatal one. They left with cornerback solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
They reloaded the coverage unit in bulk.
If Cooper DeJean and a couple of the gambles land, hindsight will be kinder than this grade.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 13 they get a potential shutdown corner. Exactly the need they had to hit.
No drama and no debate, J.J. McCarthy went about where he belonged in Round 2, Pick 12. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
A reach on Cooper Beebe in the 66th pick; the board had better options right there. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Kamal Hadden at pick 136 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Good price on Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint in the Round 5 slot, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Steele Chambers in the 234th overall pick. A minor itch, scratched.
