FutureB-
The Patriots fleeced the room on the phones and earned a B+. The war room fell hard for CJ Daniels, and it showed at pick No. 130: 45 picks ahead of a board that had other ideas. No fireworks, but a solid B+.
They won the margins on every swap, and it adds up fast. The Scourton steal is the beam this whole class leans on. For all the activity, interior defensive lineman went untouched, which is hard to explain.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but interior defensive lineman.
Pick Analysis
Pick7
Rnd1
Will Campbell
In Round 1, Pick 7 they get an anchor for the offensive line at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick34
Rnd2
Nic Scourton
Steal is underselling it; Nic Scourton at pick No. 34 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick66
Rnd3
Quincy Riley
They took Quincy Riley at par in the 66th overall pick, which is nothing to complain about. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick130
Rnd5
CJ Daniels
CJ Daniels in the Round 5 slot is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick194
Rnd7
Dylan Fairchild
Dylan Fairchild in the 194th pick is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
